Positive Society Impact System
A socially responsible approach to safety, security and civil enforcement.

Security Needs Have Changed
Many of the places we work, including supportive housing, shelters, healthcare settings and public spaces, involve people experiencing addiction, mental illness, poverty or homelessness. A traditional guarding model does not deliver the results these clients need.
Fivestar has adopted the Positive Society Impact System (PSIS) across the organization. It is a community-first approach built on three principles.
Harm reduction
Reduce risk to everyone involved, not only to property.
De-escalation
Resolve situations with dignity and respect wherever possible.
Social responsibility
Deliver services with empathy and contribute to the communities where we operate.
Officers Matched to the Environment
5 Star Security matches officers to each site, so the training and capability on site fit the risk and the people being served.
A Healthcare and Customer-Service Approach
Officers receive specialized training to understand the people they serve and de-escalate situations safely.
- Addictions
- Mental health
- Poverty
- Cultural sensitivity
- Homelessness
Our Officers Are Part of the Commitment
Officers often face harassment, danger and conflict, so PSIS also covers their safety, respect and well-being. Fivestar's workforce is diverse and inclusive, and officers are paid above traditional minimum-wage industry standards, based on their certification levels and accomplishments.
Where You See It
PSIS is the foundation of the Safety Support Worker Program for supportive housing and community organizations. It also shapes how both operating companies carry out field work, including tenancy-related services.
